Train Ride Sponsored by Jockey Being Family: North Freedom

July 30 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

$2 – $3
Registration is required for this event-

Adoptive, guardianship, and foster families— Join us for an old-fashioned train ride! Take a memorable, seven-mile, 55-minute round-trip train ride on a former branch line of the Chicago & North Western Railway nestled in a valley between the Baraboo Hills in rural Sauk County. Passengers ride in restored steel coaches built over a century ago. An authentically attired conductor will call “all aboard!” before the train leaves from a historic wooden depot, built in 1894. Our group will likely have a whole train car to ourselves.

Arrive beginning at 10am to check-in and have time to explore the Mid-Continent Railway Museum and grounds. Our train ride will begin at 11am.

No food is allowed on the train. When you check-in we will provide you with a light snack that you may eat in the picnic shelter before the train ride.

Thanks to generous funding from Jockey Being Family, tickets are just $3 for adults (ages 16+) and $2 for children (ages 3-15). Children ages 2 and under are free.

(Tickets are normally $22/adult and $12/child.) There are a LIMITED number of tickets available. Advance registration is REQUIRED.

About our venue: Mid-Continent Railway is much more than just a train ride. The Coach Sheds are filled with restored wooden passenger cars, freight cars and displays from the Golden Era of Railroading. In the outdoor display yard, you can inspect century-old steam locomotives up-close, including Copper Range locomotive #29, Soo Line #2645 and Kewaunee Green Bay & Western #49. In all, there are over 40 train cars and locomotives on display. For more information, visit: https://www.midcontinent.org/.

If you need special accommodations or have any questions, please contact Jessica@wisapsp.org. If the event is full and you would like to be added to the waitlist, please email Jessica@wisapsp.org.

Covid-19 Safety: Facemasks are currently required aboard all passenger trains and inside train stations in accordance with federal Transportation Security Administration (TSA) regulations. This mask rule applies to all individuals regardless of vaccination status. Children under the age of 2 and individuals with ADA-recognized medical conditions that make mask-wearing impossible are exempt. The current TSA mask rule extends through April 18, 2022. This rule may be extended. Please arrive for your visit prepared to wear a TSA-approved facemask if instructed by staff or signage. Any persons that refuse to wear a facemask, if required by TSA regulations or Mid-Continent policy, will be denied entry.
