The Transracial Parenting Journey Conference

Whether you are a professional, advocate or parent, this conference will explore the various aspects of transracial adoption.
Guest speaker Robert O’Connor will explore the role that culture plays in serving diverse families and communities as well as the implications of transracial placements. He will focus on helping families gain a better understanding of the tools and perspectives shown to be beneficial in supporting transracial families.
Please join us for a day filled with information and insight as we explore transracial adoption.
*Lunch will be provided with cost of registration per person.

More about the Speaker:
At the age of 4, Robert O’Connor and his brother, Adam, then six, were adopted. Having been raised in a racially diverse family in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota, Robert shares his views on the practice of adopting across racial lines. He further discusses what that experience has meant to him throughout his life, both personally and professionally.
Having worked with businesses, schools, families, and individuals throughout his career, he has become an expert on transracial adoption and multicultural familial systems having earned several honors and awards. He is the founder of Robert O’Connor and Associates which specializes in cultural diversity and inclusion training, cultural competency and bias awareness training, and transracial adoption training in a variety of settings. He is also an Assistant Professor of Social Work at Metropolitan State University in Minnesota.
